Alex Barratt

My work explores the meeting point between beauty, darkness, and transformation. I’m drawn to the tension between precision and instinct, the digital and the handmade — how an idea can move from the immaterial to the physical, from light into metal and enamel.

Each piece begins as a fragment of narrative — an imagined relic, an anatomical study, or an echo of architecture. Through 3D printing, casting, and traditional finishing, these forms evolve into objects that feel unearthed rather than invented, carrying traces of story while leaving space for others to find their own.

For me, narrative is not fixed but fluid; the work’s meaning expands with each interpretation. My intent is only ever a starting point — from there, each viewer builds a personal mythology, and the idea deepens through that exchange.

At its core, my practice is a meditation on contrast — between what is known and what is felt, between permanence and transformation — shaping moments of quiet wonder from ritual and the unseen.
